Sparks of Curiosity: A Day of Circuits, Creativity, and Connection at Camp

The day at camp began on a harmonious note with a prayer song, bringing everyone together in a calm and focused spirit. Soon after, the atmosphere turned lively with a fun energizer that filled the space with laughter and excitement, setting the perfect tone for an engaging day ahead.

What made today especially memorable was the presence of boys from the local area who joined alongside our school children. Their enthusiasm was immediately visible—particularly because the day’s activities revolved around something they were deeply curious about: electronics. Their eagerness added a new energy to the camp, creating a vibrant and collaborative environment.

After the opening activities, I introduced the theme for the day and guided the students into the world of Papertronics. With keen interest, they gathered around as I carefully explained each component of the kit—helping them understand the names of materials and how each one functions within a circuit. From wires to batteries and connectors, every element sparked questions and curiosity.

Soon, it was time for hands-on learning. The students began working on assembling circuits, attempting to create a traffic signal and a house bell. It was wonderful to watch them collaborate, experiment, and learn through doing. Their excitement grew as some circuits successfully worked, lighting up their faces with pride and accomplishment.

Not everything worked perfectly—and that was part of the learning too. A couple of the circuits didn’t function as expected, but instead of discouragement, it opened the door for curiosity and problem-solving. I encouraged them to revisit and complete those projects the next day, reminding them that learning often comes through trial and persistence.

To wrap up the session, we shifted gears into a lighter activity with riddles, which the students thoroughly enjoyed. It gave them a chance to think differently and engage their minds in a playful way. I also guided them on materials they should bring for the next day, ensuring they are prepared for more exploration.

Finally, we gathered for reflection—a moment to pause and think about the day’s experiences. The students shared their thoughts, what they learned, what they enjoyed, and what they were excited to try next.

Today’s camp was not just about circuits and components—it was about curiosity, teamwork, and the joy of discovering something new. With each small spark, these young learners are building confidence and creativity, lighting the path for even brighter days ahead. ✨
