Passage reading is an important part of building strong English skills among primary school students. As part of Navodaya (JNV) preparation classes, a passage reading session was conducted for 4th and 5th standard students to improve their reading, pronunciation, and comprehension abilities.
During the session, students were guided to read a simple and meaningful passage titled “The Honest Boy.” The story focused on values like honesty and responsibility. Each student actively participated by coming forward and reading aloud from the blackboard. This helped them gain confidence and improve their fluency.
The teacher supported students by correcting pronunciation, explaining difficult words, and encouraging them to read with proper expression. Students were also asked questions based on the passage to check their understanding. This interactive method made the class more engaging and effective.
The activity not only improved reading skills but also helped students understand the importance of moral values through storytelling. It was observed that students showed great interest and enthusiasm throughout the session.
Overall, the passage reading activity was successful in enhancing students’ confidence, vocabulary, and comprehension skills, which are essential for their academic growth and Navodaya exam preparation.
