Sparking Curiosity Through Math:
A Heartwarming Experience
There’s something magical about seeing students get genuinely curious and excited about learning. Recently, I decided to explore this magic through Mathematics TLMs (Teaching Learning Materials). I suggested to my students that they create simple TLMs, like using weights or a clock, to better understand math concepts. To my delight, they followed my idea and prepared their materials the very next day! Watching their creativity and effort unfold was truly heartwarming.
We also celebrated a belated Math Day, and the students prepared a variety of math-related TLMs. Even the little ones participated enthusiastically. There were no prizes, no competitions—they didn’t do it for recognition. They simply wanted to make me happy. The joy and pride on their faces were beyond words. Moments like these remind me why teaching is so rewarding—seeing curiosity turn into creativity, and effort turn into genuine happiness.
