Visit to the STEM lab at Sirsi

On 1st January we had the opportunity to visit the STEM  lab at Shree Marikamba High school in Sirsi. The purpose of the visit to the STEM lab focused on improving the skills of teachers in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). This lab was established recently with a modern, well-equipped facility designed to provide hands-on learning experiences for students in various aspects of STEM education. The lab allows the students to work individually and or in groups. There is a facilitator to explain the concepts.

This lab included the physics, chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and technology related models.  In science we got to know about many models like Newton’s disc, periscope, Telescope, Electromagnetism, Potential and Kinetic energy, Newton’s Laws of Motion, Laws of reflection, Ohm’s Law, Solar energy, wind energy, Day and Night concepts etc. In Mathematics there are models to explain the Pythagoras theorem, area of trapezium, area of circle, and square and proofs of some identities. In Biology we got to  know about the models like the Human heart, Respiratory system, Digestive system, DNA model and Human eye. This lab included simple chemistry experiments such as creating vinegar and baking soda reactions, acids and base test, PH value of the compound, Sodium chloride reaction and Atomic structure. Through these models students can easily understand the concepts. I would like to express my sincere thanks to the staff of the STEM lab for their warm welcome and for providing detailed information about the lab’s programs.

Children’s Day Celebration at GHPS Lokur

Children’s Day Celebration at GHPS Lokur               On 14th November, we joyfully celebrated Children’s Day at GHPS Lokur. The entire school campus was filled with excitement, laughter, and a festive spirit as our students gathered to honor this special day dedicated to childhood and learning.                 We began the celebration with a pooja for Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, lovingly known as Chacha Nehru, whose birthday is celebrated as Children’s Day across the country. A Day of Mixed Emotions in the Classroom

A Day of Mixed Emotions in the Classroom               Teaching is a journey filled with different emotions every day. Some days begin with excitement and energy, while others start with unexpected challenges. Today was one such day for me.           When I entered the school, I realized that many students had not come. Only 11 students were present in the class. For a moment, I felt sad and disappointed because I always look forward to seeing all my students together, learning and growing. Their absence created a quiet atmosphere that I wasn’t used to.           However, I decided to turn the day into a positive experience for the students who were present. With enthusiasm and a smile, I continued teaching and encouraged the students to participate actively.          In the last period, I took my 4th and 5th class students to the school ground. We played fun and engaging...
